As a Christian Board-certified physician, I always felt that there was something missing in the healthcare model that I was trained in. Yes, Im a doctor that trained at the great institutions of the world, but I knew there was more. See, I was born and raised in Uganda during the genesis of the AIDS epidemic. I watched many people including my own father die of AIDS and I asked God -My New Father- to make me a healer. By God's Great Hand and Grace, I got my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at The Johns Hopkins University on full scholarship. I went to medical school at the Duke University School of Medicine- on scholarship. I then completed my residency in Emergency Medicine at Emory University where I was Chief Resident in my final year of training. I even got a Master’s Degree in Global health at the University of California at San Francisco.(UCSF).
After a decade in Emergency Medicine, I began to realize I was an expert at treating symptoms with pharmaceuticals but I was not getting to the root cause of my patients’ ailments! As a Christian first, I went back to first principles- to Genesis- and asked The Creator, who is also Yahweh Rapha- The God Who Heals, about healing. He told me: “Sit down at My Feet and I will teach you how to heal My People.” And He has taken me through a curriculum on how to heal His Way and it has changed the way I look at this intricately complex crown of creation that is the human body. I soon came to learn that Health Science is not in opposition to God. On the contrary, real science only presents proof that God is Our Creator! Healthcare does not have to be divorced from God!
